Government wins, citizens lose

Jeff Immelt, General Electric’s chief executive, talking about our recession/depression:“Governments are all in,” he said. “And in my view, government always wins.”

Governments don't always win. Just ask the Soviet Union and the first four French republics. In fact, they always fail, given enough time.

More importantly, when government wins, it most often means that its citizens lose. The people of Russia are much better off without a winning Soviet Union.
